PSARA stands for the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005. Any individual, firm or company that wants to run a private security agency — supplying guards, supervisors or related services — must obtain a PSARA licence before deploying personnel. It is a mandatory legal requirement across India.

In most states a PSARA licence is valid for 5 years. In a few states — including Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh — the validity is 1 year. The licence is granted by the State Controlling Authority and is valid only within that state, so a separate licence is needed for each state of operation.

Yes. Before applying you must sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a government-recognised training institute, so your guards and supervisors receive the prescribed training. We arrange this MoU as part of the licensing process. Ex-servicemen-led agencies are given certain relaxations.

The applicant should be an Indian citizen with a clean criminal record (no convictions and no pending cases) and must not have been dismissed from government service. A company applicant should be properly registered, and the management should arrange a qualified supervisor — preference is given to candidates with armed-forces or police background.

Renewal should be filed before the licence expires — typically the application is submitted around 45 days before the expiry date. We set renewal reminders for every client so the licence never lapses, and we ensure ongoing training and compliance conditions continue to be met.
